Earth Rights Declaration
Earth Rights Declaration – a proposal for mankind & UN
Motivation
Mankind has a duty to protect and nurture life on Earth. A reckless culture of mass consumption and exploitation has created devastation in the environment of land and water. Adversely affecting inhabitants in all worlds, human, animal, plant and mineral, in some areas irreversible destruction. A shift in paradigm is urgent and necessary.
Mankind must change its relation to Earth.
This declaration is an expression of the shift in awareness needed in the human race.
Earth Rights Declaration
- Earth, and all of its natural worlds, has an innate right of existence and value independent of the use for the human race. Earth is a living being in its own right and dignity.
- The human race is not owner of the Earth. For mankind, Earth is a shared home with countless other living beings. The right relation between Earth and humans is as caretakers working towards a goal of respect, nurturing and harmonious growth for the planet itself and all living beings. In accordance with their natural behavior and on their own terms.
- Earth, and its natural worlds at all levels, has a right to be treated in accordance with its innate nature and exist in its highest possible condition of unity, harmony, balance, health and growth.
- Mankind is under obligation to work towards assisting Earth in obtaining its optimal state of health and balance. Restoring, nurturing and maintaining its natural plant and animal life, microbiology, biodiversity, innate immune systems and self healing mechanisms.
This obligation befalls individuals, communities, companies, cities, states and nations.
The perspective and intention of this declaration has legitimacy and is in accordance with core perceptions of major systems of philosophy and belief across the world, not least in in the cosmology of most Indigenous Peoples.
Database for the Restoration of Earth
Each member state will create a Database for the Restoration of Earth with public access in which individuals, institutions, cities, states, nations and companies can be accepted if pledging to adhere to the objective of this declaration.
Acceptance in the database also requires a commitment to
The practise of kindness
At the core of all major belief systems is the value of kindness. In recent years scientific work demonstrate that the spirit or energy in which interaction between living beings take place not only impact the psychological state, but also the physical state of all creation. One loving word can change our biochemistry.
Humans can support and heal earth through the spirit or energy with which they interact with other beings.
Every individual, company or institution is obligated to focus on this, and work towards materializing a kind, nurturing spirit in concrete initiatives such as use of speech, structuring of work, decision making, products and services.
Specific goals
Meat consumption especially has proved to have devastating effects on the planet. Each member has an obligation to work urgently towards giving up this practice. And in all areas treat animals and their foods in accordance with this declaration.
Likewise, fossil fuels and non-ecological agriculture must urgently be phased out. To reduce human overpopulation steps must immediately be taken, mainly by providing women easy access to education.
The UN Foundation for the Restoration of Earth & The International Court for Crimes against Earth
Substantial destruction of land or water environment, plant or animal life can be brought before the International Court for Crimes against Earth.
The Court and the UN Foundation for the Restoration of Earth together will have jurisdiction to take legal action, stop, punish and restore substantial destruction of earth and the natural worlds.
Each member state will provide an Earth Guardian Force that can take action at the authority of the Court.
Actions of both individuals, public institutions, companies, regardless of home, states and nations can be subject of the Court.
Both individuals and nations can bring crimes to the Court. And the Court can initiate action.
Legal responsibility is sharpened, if the crimes are committed for the purpose of creating a profit. The burden of proof then rests upon the accused.
In a similar manner, if the destruction is irreversible as in the extinction of a species or permanent damage to soil, plants, animals or the habitat for indigenous peoples, making the environment inhabitable.
Sanctions:
- Physical restoration is preferable. If physical restoration is not possible, either due to the lack of ability on the part of the perpetrator or if the damage is irreversible, the reparation will be financial. The Foundation for the Restoration of Earth will take care of the restoration, if the perpetrator is deemed unable.
- Fines – profit is confiscated and a fine of X times the profit. The fine is paid to The Foundation for the Restoration of Earth.
- Responsible leaders will be imprisoned, sentencing equal to crimes against humanity.
